End SARS: Details of Ooni’s meeting with Obasanjo emerge

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, on Monday hosted Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria, with an appeal to protesters End SARS in Nigeria to withdraw.

Ooni, when receiving Obasanjo in his house Ile Oodua Palace, Ile-Ife, described the protest End SARS as a clear message by the young Nigerian government.

He also urged the youth to give the government the opportunity to attend their demands fully.

“Every day at 11:50 pm, they displayed their financial updates, and for me, I was very impressed with a sense of accountability.

“As the leader of his own youth, I am proud that we all have communicated our ideas, and it was heartwarming that we have heard.

“Dear young people, it’s time to step down so as to prevent people with ulterior motives from hijacking the peaceful message of peace.

“The whole world is aware of our peaceful behavior, and we do not have to let a few bad elements tarnish the integrity of this envy.

“Again, I want to encourage our youth to stop the protests, for the time being and gives peace a chance. This will prevent the government used force. ”

Speaking earlier, NAN reported that Obasanjo describe EndSARS protests as the product of an extensive agitation by a Nigerian man to be attended by government.

He said: “More than 65 percent of our population is under the age of 18 and 30; they are not only fighting to acquire education, they also aspire for the best that life can offer them.

“Some of them even do not get an education, while they were educated increasingly frustrated by lack of opportunity. We must realize that the lid on a boiling steam will be deleted.

“But I believe that there is a window of opportunity that governments can explore to show that it cares about the welfare of the people, especially the young, the father of the country and, in particular, as a young father.

“Fortunately, the President had children, and he knows how to behave youth.

“I believe that opportunities can still be taken to let the youth know that he, as a father, understands their suffering and that the government understands their suffering and he is ready to make life better for them.”
