Police in the state of Anambra has arrested a pastor identified as Chukwuma Uchenna, 21, for allegedly killing a 60-year-old native doctor, Oliver Chukwudi Ugwu, in Umusiome, Nkpor, on Thursday, September 3rd.
Haruna Mohammad, a spokesman for the state police command, said the division Ogidi police station were alerted immediately after the incident occurred.
police detective arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect that during the interrogation, said he was sent by God to kill the native doctor who died. According to police, the suspect said the native doctor was bothering him mentally and not allow him to progress financially.
The police spokesman added that the victim was rushed to the hospital iyi Enu Ogidi for medical attention where he was certified dead by a doctor on arrival. His body was kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Haruna said the machete used in the crimes was recovered as an exhibition and that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka for discreet investigation to uncover the actual circumstances surrounding the incident.
